Films must have been accessible to the public for the first time between January 1, 2019 and September 15, 2021 and must not be screened simply to qualify. However, an exception is granted to Non-French Language films (NFLF) and documentaries which are eligible if they were made available to the public for the first time between January 1, 2019 and September 15, 2021. For your information, the eligibility period for the 2022 Prizes will begin on January 1, 2021.

For films with multiple versions that are released in reduced or extended cuts, the version that has had the most online (or theatrical) release during the eligibility period should be selected. The title of the film should be the same on the entry information and on all campaign materials as scheduled and marketed to allow transparency in the vote. The feature film categories are eligible for all African countries, with the exception of ‘Outstanding Congolese Film’ and Outstanding Debut ’, which are only reserved for Congolese films.
CONGOFILMZ is aware of problems encountered within this sector with the restrictions imposed by the covid-19 pandemic. The world of cinema is plunged into uncertainty. We continue to work with our industry colleagues through these very challenging times. This has been taken into consideration as regards the eligibility criteria for the 2021 Congo Filmz Awards are currently being launched.
